double_down NA Ultiduo Tournament

A North American double-elimination Ultiduo tournament run by ElenaMorning and joejoe347 (mojoe) through May and June 2013. Sixty-two soldier and medic pairs signed up, each with an optional backup, for a buy-in of two refined metal per team that was turned into keys for the prize pool. Matches were played on koth_ultiduo_r_b7, ultiduo_baloo and koth_bunkalow with a whitelist that banned the Kritzkrieg, Quick-Fix, Vaccinator and Vita-Saw, and the Black Box, Beggar's Bazooka, Liberty Launcher, Cow Mangler and the soldier banners.

Week one (11 May) was sixteen groups of four. Each group played two opening matches, then a winners' match and a losers' match: the winners' match winner went to the upper bracket, its loser and the losers' match winner dropped to the lower bracket, and the losers' match loser was out. In week two (18 May) the upper bracket played its first round while the thirty-two lower-bracket pairs played eight groups of four, whose winners met the upper-bracket losers. The upper quarter-finals and two lower rounds followed on 25 May, and the last twelve pairs played the closing bracket from 1 June: Rice Guys Finish Last, Platinum Powah, Pokemanz and The former r5's in the upper semi-finals, and Bad Decisions, Ubercept, Twai, myanimelist, based_ikpure, High Ping Prodigys, Bunch of Crunch and double_penetration in the lower bracket. The Grand Final was played on 9 June and cast by eXtine on eXtv. Prizes were 15, 10 and 5 keys.

Results were reported to the admins by email and only the first two weeks were published, so most matches after 18 May are not recorded here. The ones that are come from surviving logs.tf logs, and the champion is not known.
