We are looking for help: writers and match trackers

news2 min read

TF2 Esports covers a twenty-year-old, globe-spanning scene — every region, every league, tens of thousands of matches — and it is run by a small group of volunteers who care about getting it right. We have reached the point where the work is bigger than the people doing it. So we are recruiting.

There are two ways to get involved.

Writers and editors

We want the site to cover the scene, not just catalogue it: match recaps, event previews and write-ups, roster-shuffle analysis, interviews, opinion pieces — the stuff that made following competitive TF2 fun in the first place.

You do not need to be a professional. You need to know the scene and be able to string sentences together. Editors get access to publish straight to the front page, with as much or as little involvement as you want — one event a season or a regular column, both are welcome.

Match-tracking operations

This is the engine room. A huge amount of the data here is synced automatically, but automation only gets you ninety percent of the way. The last ten percent — the misattributed log, the bracket that needs a result confirmed, the roster that is out of date, the VOD that should be linked to a match — is human work, and it is the difference between a database and a resource people actually trust.

A completed match page
Every match page, scoreboard and bracket is only as good as the data behind it — that is the job.

If you are the kind of person who notices when a scoreboard is wrong and cannot let it go, this is the role for you. It is behind the scenes, it is detail-obsessed, and it directly shapes what every visitor sees.

Interested?

Come say hi in our Discord and tell us which side you lean toward — writing, tracking, or both. There is no formal application and no commitment quota; we will find something that fits the time you have got.

This community has always run on people volunteering their time to make things better for everyone else. We are just keeping that tradition going.
