The People's Cup

maincall.tf's debut tournament: a pre-season 6v6 cup, run in the gap before ETF2L Season 19 and played entirely on community maps that the public picked. An 88-voter poll chose cp_logjam, cp_warmfront and cp_obscure ahead of bazillion, derecho, tidal and vanguard, and the organisers released rollout and call videos for each of the three before the cup.

Entry was a 6 ref fee. After several division 1 and 2 sides signed up the cup was split into two separate double-elimination brackets - a High Bracket of eight division 3 and above teams and a Low Bracket that closed at twelve - each with its own podium and prizes (games, serveme.tf and TF2Pickup.net donator access, keys, and £90 and £30 in cash for the High Bracket top two). The finals of both were cast on twitch.tv/maincall.

High Bracket: Hello Kitteh Ninjas! won, beating Safari Zone by Saloon.tf in the grand final after losing to them in the winners final; prtyboiz finished third. Low Bracket: dude nice went undefeated to win it, ahead of milko’s merry men and Good Enough: Honeycombs.

E-SHOCK ESPORT and Druidz eSports - the High Bracket’s first and third seeds - both withdrew about ten minutes before the opening round, and MEHL and Dr. | Digital reality also went unplayed in the Low Bracket, so seven of the recorded games are walkovers.
